Art Uncorked, the popular wine and painting experience held at Artisan Village had to be suspended for several months because of renovations. Saturday, April 8th Chris Sheldon, the middle school art teacher and popular Art Uncorked instructor conducted the inaugural session of the 2017 season with eleven participants. We hope to have the full Art Uncorked program back in June of 2017. Stay tuned for details.
Last fall Artisan Village chose to lease the wine room to Paddle Hard Brewing and license a portion of the gallery to serve alcohol because the wine area was too crowded to host Art Uncorked. Now the Art Uncorked experience can be conducted in the licensed portion of the gallery. The April schedule will continue on April 22nd with Patt Bennett, an artist from Traverse City, conducting a session painting images directly on wine glasses. Terry Dickinson, artists and director of Artisan Village, will lead participants in creating a landscape painting on April 29th. The May schedule is coming together and will be posted on a dedicated web site www.ArtUncorked.wine.
Under the new lease, Dave and Cindy Vargo have created a fresh look for the wine room adding such features as a two-sided fireplace in the front of the building, upgrading the serving counter and product displays and renovating the façade from the sidewalk to the roof. The wine being served at the tasting room is from St. Ambrose Cellars located in Beulah, Michigan.
