No, no, Neil isnt really hanging from our ceiling!
Our building sat vacant for many years before we rented it in 2010. Apparently some leaks developed in the roof during that time. Left unchecked, they grew to form some pretty serious holes. After we moved in we had regular leak problems, but didn't realize the extent of the holes until we prepared to purchase the building ( and looked behind the drop ceilings.
We've made many upgrades and improvements since we bought the building in 2015. Now we are starting work on the roof. We have some very skilled volunteers who have helped to stretch our renovation dollars by doing work that doesn't require a licensed professional. Volunteer Neil Nettles has been instrumental in many areas. Lately, much of his at work has been repairing the roof and prepping it for our new HVAC system.
Volunteers Ruth and Mike Hankins used their artistic talents to create this piece of art we like to call "Have you seen Neil?" Then Mike installed the art on the ceiling so it looked like Neil accidentally stepped in one of the holes. Pretty clever, Hankins!
The good news is Neil is fine, no volunteers were hurt in the making of this art piece. The bad news is that it will be covered when the new ceiling is installed so you better visit soon if you'd like to see this in person!
