Courtney Michalik is the founder of The Compass Points Here, a photography and videography company focused on fine art, wedding, and editorial work. She holds a BFA from the University of Michigan's Stamps School of Art and Design, with a minor in environmental science. In 2011, she was selected by the Our World Underwater Scholarship Society as their Bonnier Publishing Intern. Since that time, Courtney's work has appeared in publications including Discover, Traverse Magazine, Sport Diver, and Scuba Diving Magazine. In 2016
Courtney had the opportunity to co-curate Wildhearted, a multimedia art exhibit at Crooked Tree Arts Center in Traverse City, which focused on the environmentally inspired work of young emerging artists and creative professionals in Northern Michigan
Courtney weddingOriginally from Ann Arbor, Courtney spent her childhood summers on Lake Margrethe in Grayling where her parents now live year round. Her recent work is influenced by the environment and wildlife of Northern Michigan and involves a photographic image transfer process onto wood blocks and panels.
Courtney lives in Traverse City with her husband (as of August 27th, 2016!) and business partner, Michael.
