Brooches made from recycled material
I was born in Ann Arbor Michigan but when I was twelve my parents and I moved to Hawaii where we lived on the slopes of Diamond Head (someone had to do it!) In 1969 we returned to Michigan and at that point I attended Michigan State University where I majored in interior design with an art minor. I have worked as a kitchen designer since graduating.
Recycling and repurposing discarded materials was something that was instilled in me as a child by my mother who was very frugal. So as a hobby I decided to create brooches from upholstery fabric samples. Eighteen years ago I began by making abstract designs which later became fun and whimsical animal and flower shapes. I hope these pins make you smile and brighten your day!
